The village boasts a lovely crescent shaped bay from which you can see dauphins frolicking and if you are lucky sometimes spot a minke whale. The local 9 hole golf course welcomes visitors .
Take a wander out to the red and white lighthouse, Scotlands tallest. Or stroll along the seashore to nearby Inver. You are bound to see lots of birds, seals and sometimes even otter.
Tain the oldest Royal Burrough in Scotland has lots of shops and his home to the world famous Glenmorrangie Distillery.
Dornoch with it's impressive cathedral boasts many fine restaurants, antique shops and craft shops. Golfers will want to tee off at the Royal Dornoch Golf Course.
Inverness and Loch Ness are only about an hours drive south and offer something for everyone. Want to drive to the most northern tip of mainland Britain - head up yo John 0'Groats, it's a great road with many scenic vista and takes about 2 hours driving.
Portmahomack and all the surrounding towns have their own summer festivals often called gala days. The Carnegie village hall frequently hosts concerts and movie nights. The Castle Hotel has live music and sing along evenings. Highland games take place all over the North of Scotland throughout the summer.
